Anyway Back to Leaving LA...Had a leisurely morning as my flight wasn't leaving till 12:30. We had a couple of stops to make so we left Gary's house at 9:00. On the freeway Gary was weaving a little and I figured that's the way he
drives or was avoiding potholes (kept looking but didn't see any). So a few miles later he tells "damn don't know why but I'm getting really sleepy". Oh good. He's doing me a favor and risking his Corvette...not to mention my ass. We pulled off the next exit looking for coffee...Starbucks, Mickey D, In N Out, even a Zippys but NADA. Oh I'll make it he says..,Okay I say and kept my fingers crossed. We did make it to the airport in one piece (Gary did make it hone to Newport Beach safely for those who were concerned).
Got first class out of LAX (my first on 777) and what a great experience. Sleeper seats, movies on demand, Bose headphones, great food and service.
Anyway saw a bike messenger movie which if you're not a rider there wasn't much substance but Barfy if you're still following this it was kinda fun. Touched briefly on the fixie vs gear issue and good riding through New York City. Premium Ride was the name of the movie.
From disembarking to getting to the hotel shuttle took all so 40 minutes. And that included dealing with a b____ of a custom agent (hundred questions about the purpose of my trip, which hotels I' m staying at...hey a different one every night...want to see my itinerary ?...then started searching my backpack so I started pulling everything out until she finally says "FINE". Took my time repacking)
But all in all SEAMLESS.
Heading to Nagoya tomorrow. Seeya. Hope for another seamless day.
Glad you made it safely, well rested, well fed, entertained and ready to do battle with the serious customs agent. Everyone seems to take their jobs very seriously in Japan... Something you might want to learn from... Wait a second, you can't teach an old dog new tricks, right? First class flights to Narita are the only way to travel. Also, glad you am de it to the airport. It sounds like Gary (corvette man) needed a few more hours of sleep. Glad he made it home.... Didn't realize he lived in Newport Beach.... neighbors of our Tim and Amy.... So, you do have a camera working, and you seem to be learning to navigate in Japanese, you we expect more of this trips adventures. Have fun my friend.
